Members Who Have Reached 85 Points

Effective April 1, 2017 under the terms of the Long-Term Disability Plan with Great-West Life, there is a provision stating that Long-Term Disability insurance coverage will terminate on the earliest of the following dates:

  • Termination of employment with the Employer;
  • The date the member attains age 65 or earlier retirement; or
  • The date the Member satisfies the age and service requirements for an unreduced, early retirement pension (85 points with a minimum of 55 years of age and 25 years of service)

Accordingly Canadian Pacific has been requested to administratively cease LTD premium deductions in the situations above.

For those Members who continued to be deducted LTD premiums following the date they satisfied the age and service requirement for an unreduced, early retirement pension, may apply for the reimbursement of those premiums (this will only apply to premiums deducted as of April 1,2017 and later).

In order to apply for reimbursement you must submit a written request by completing the
Application Form for Reimbursement of LTD Premiums Paid After Reaching 85 Points (Minimum Age 55 – and 25 Years’ Service).

The Board of Trustees meets on a quarterly basis and at the meetings each application is reviewed and if everything is in order, your application will be approved for payment.
